Webdialogue
The Euro-Atlantic Association of Belgium starts a dialogue experiment on an recent international security issue using its website http//www.beaa.be/. The rules of this game are as follows :
- An initial working paper is issued on the website of the Association on a recent security event of general interest.
- For simplification purposes, this paper is written in English.
- Those who want to do so, may make short comments or observations (not more than 5 lines) referring to the item raised. These comments may be either in English, French or Dutch.
- Surfers can also express their opinion on each of the four concluding remarks of the paper by clicking either “agree”, “do not agree” or “no opinion”.
- Within two to four weeks, a global and final reaction will be provided in English by the Association so as to end the discussion on this particular item.
- This final reaction will be general, will not refer to particular comments and will not necessarily cover all the questions raised;
- Crude comments or aggressive language will be deleted and will not be reacted upon.
- The first item chosen for this dialogue is the recent bomb attack in Madrid. Its purpose is to evaluate the risks of further terrorist acts involving Europe. Because this is a serious question for everybody, the dialogue has to be conducted in a serious and non-contentious way.
- If the formula turns out to be successful and manageable, it will be continued in the future, possibly with some adjustments.
